Weird Fit

This dress fit me very awkwardly. The band around the top of the bust where the bow is runs very tight. I got my usual size Small and it was uncomfortably tight across this area for me (for reference I’m a 34A). It might have worked if I had a larger bust to fill out the rest of the top, but instead the smocking just kind of puckered awkwardly and looked terrible. The rest of the dress fit well so it’s a shame the top didn’t work better. I tried sizing up but it didn’t fix the bodice, and made the rest of the dress too loose. I have more of a rectangular torso than an inverted triangle like the model, so maybe that’s the issue.

The linen fabric is thick and beautiful, and the slit is not as high as it looks in the model photo - it’s fairly modest. I did feel like I looked like an extra out of a period film, but if that’s the look you’re going for then this may work for you. It didn’t work for me.

good FP/Doen style

I was looking for a dress with a similar shape to the Doen Sol. I was thinking of getting the Free People Oasis dress but decided to get this one instead. I prefer the shorter sleeves and length as well as the color. It was also cheaper, even with the $40 membership. It looks cute and is a good dupe, but the armholes are weirdly tight and the top draw string is nonfunctional/purely decorative so it cuts into my bust a little. If the top was adjustable the armholes would probably fit better. It's still nice though. The color is nicer and more earthy in person. I usually wear a size 12/L and got this dress in the L.
